A warm welcome to our blog; we are two sisters documenting our seasonal and sustainable journey to a slower, happier way of life.

If you love minimalism, sustainability, healthy, yummy and seasonal recipes as well as cake, books, crafts and nature then you’ll feel right at home here. We like to try and live minimally and seasonally, making, recycling and repurposing  where we can. This blog will hopefully be a nice way for us to document our continuing journey to a more fulfilling way of life.

We are passionate about doing all we can to try and save the planet and look after our bodies. We love to cook together and have been learning all about having a vegetable plot and potting shed in the back gardens of our new seaside homes. We naturally feel happier knowing that what we are doing and eating is benefitting both our bodies and the planet as a whole. Hopefully this will be an interesting way to see how much we learn along the way (dear God please say we DO learn something!).

We became vegan in 2018 and that lead to us not just looking at what was in our food but where it came from, and from there we started to look at everything in the same way; where do our clothes come from, what are they made of, who makes them, why are they so cheap? These questions lead us towards a more minimal way of life, due to a greater understanding of the toxic side to fast fashion and the devastating impacts of single use plastic.

Here we will be looking at seasonal and sustainable living, minimalism, cooking from scratch, upcycling and (hopefully!) growing our own vegetables. We still have so far to go, so many questions still to find and answer, but we hope you’ll join us on this journey.

Please do leave a comment, it would be lovely to hear from you. You can also find us on Instagram, Facebook and YouTube!

Hi, I’m Summer. I’m the younger sister, the crazy aunt, the utterly hilarious sister-in-law (Paul’s words… kind of). The fact that this website even exists is still crazy to me, from a casual conversation after dinner one evening to a full action plan and the launching of Fox and Lockes in less than two months, it has already been such a crazy ride.

I moved to Whitstable at the beginning of 2021 and am fully loving and embracing life by the sea. I’ve recently started composting and have plenty of plans in mind for renovating my new home. I am a complete notice when it comes to DIY and gardening and am excited to share my efforts with all of you – even the failures. My biggest hope is that you can in fact teach an old dog new tricks, but I guess time will tell.

When not with my family or working on Fox and Lockes you can find me working out, reading with a coffee, or by the seafront. This journey is exciting, and one that so many of us are on; here’s hoping we can assist some of you in making additional changes to create a slower paced, more sustainable life for yourself and your families.

I am Livvy, the older sister in this little team and my husband Paul is the vitally important tech man who has built this website from scratch for us.

Summer and I grew up in the West Country and took a lot of our childhood lives for granted. Paul and I met at University (of Kent) in 2008 and  after a few years of living in big cities (Chelmsford, Maidstone and Canterbury) we finally moved to the seaside and had our two children. That’s when we really started to look at what we were eating, where it was coming from, what impact it was having on the environment and not just our health but also the health of our little ones. We are trying to go back to the local and seasonal way of living that we were so lucky to grow up with.

I am hoping that by documenting the rest of this journey we will be able to look back at how far we have come, learn from our mistakes, connect with like minded people and generally have a go at getting information out there that may contribute in some small way to making the world a better place.
