Homemade Bunny Straws, Bags and Bunting
As you may have noticed we are a bit bunny mad in this house! To add a little bit of bunny fun to our already bunny filled Easter I also did these three little crafts to create some homemade magic and excitement. As always they are frugal and easy crafts which won’t take you so long that you get fed up with them but also come out well enough to be impressive and add to the event.
Bunny straws
These are so quick you can do them during naptime. All you need are some paper straws, some small laser-cut wooden bunny shapes (I got these years ago from etsy) and super glue. You simply pop a blob of super glue onto the back on your bunny and press it onto the straw, holding it there for about 30 seconds, or long enough for the glue to dry. I am very excited to have these straws on the table for Easter as I think my little bears will love them.
Bags
These are one of the best things I’ve made in ages, they are so sweet. I had some old hessian bags in my craft box and I saw a photo on Pinterest where they had some with a little bunny on the front. I took the idea, drew out a basic template and cut around a pretty old pillowcase. Once I had my fabric bunnies I just popped a small amount of glue on the back and stuck them on the bags – make sure it is a small amount of glue, well spread out, otherwise it will change the colour and texture of the fabric bunny.
I was trying to decide whether or not to add some little buttons I found in the bottom of my sewing bag as tails when baby bear woke up (real life!) and I haven’t gotten back around to adding any, so if you give it a go and decide to add button tails please tag us so we can see how they look.
Bunting
I wanted to make this as my little bear saw some in a shop and asked if we could get it, I said no but we could maybe try and make our own and she was so excited by the idea! Such a great reminder that children love homemade things, even when they aren’t perfect.
The paper I used was simple plain crafting card but you could use anything; the joy of this is it will end up looking unique to you and your family.
Again I just drew out a simple bunny template on an old piece of card (I used the back of a birthday card) before cutting it out and drawing around my template onto all the coloured cards. Once I had cut them all out, which I did one night in front of a film, I stabbed a needle through the top of the ears (I put a blob of blue tack on the table and pushed the needle through the ears into the blue tack), then simply threaded with a needle and twine.
We really hope you give some of these crafts a try, they are super fun and everyone needs a few more bunny decorations don’t they? (Paul say’s no, we have enough haha). If you do make your own please share them with us, we would love to see.
We hope you have a wonderful long weekend, whatever you choose to do.
