Easter Crafts – Door Wreath

After feeling a little down due to seasonal weather (grey, grey, grey) and a round of tummy bugs (how, we haven’t left the house!), I finally found time to sit down in the evenings and make an Easter wreath for the front door. Our Easter decorations are very simple, minimal and homemade and I’m really pleased with how well this fits into our home.

Originally I wanted to get all the willow and make the mainframe myself but when I was going through my craft boxes in the attic (minimalists don’t, contrary to popular belief, chuck everything they own away) I found this beautiful wooden branched frame I picked up a few years ago.

The tulips I had to order from Amazon as I couldn’t find anywhere open locally that sold anything like this. I don’t like to use Amazon if I don’t have too but with lockdown it really does leave you rather limited.  The flowers arrived with REALLY long stems, so I simply poked them through the wooden wreath and once I was happy with the placements I trimmed the stems with wire cutters. I also saved a few of the leaves and added them into the bow.

The bow is made from recycled ribbon I got as part of a gift a few years ago and I had been keeping specifically for this project so it felt good to finally use it and let it shine. I love the rustic look of the bow, I think it ties in nicely with the wooden frame.

The little egg hanging from the middle I also found in an old box ( I think it’s from Hobbycraft) and I think it really adds something. I hope to find a little bunny or something cute to pop inside it one day but haven’t had any luck so far.

Do you like to make seasonal door wreaths? Or do any Easter crafts? I hope to share a few more of mine over the next few weeks, they are all very simple and homemade.
