Harry Potter Style Chocolate Frogs

I got this cute little chocolate mould about seven years ago now and I just love it so much. I 100% got it because it reminded me of the chocolate frogs they eat in Harry Potter and the more magical Harry Potterness I can weave into my life the better.

I’m also super excited for when the children are old enough for us to read the books together and for them to join me in my magical obsession!

I like to make these little chocolate frogs for Halloween, Christmas and Easter (and whenever my family ask for them!) as they look super cute and are really simple to make using whatever chocolate you fancy. This means it’s super easy to make cute little vegan chocolates in many flavours.

I’ve made dark chocolate, orange chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate frogs so far. I think Paul really fancies a few mint chocolate frogs this Christmas so I’ll enjoy making those for him in a few months.

Ingredients

  • Chocolate of choice (my mould needs 250g for 8 frogs)
  • Rapeseed oil for greasing

Method

  1. Grease the mould with the oil – trust me, if you forget they don’t look anything like frogs by the time you get them out!
  2. Heat a pan of water over a medium heat and put a heat proof bowl over the top, ensuring the water doesn’t touch the bottom of the bowl.
  3. Melt your chocolate in the bowl, stirring often, until it’s all nice and smooth.
  4. Pour the chocolate into the mould and leave it to set. I like to leave mine to set on the side at room temperature and not in the fridge as these seems to leave the chocolates looking shinier.
  5. Carefully pop the frog out of the mould and enjoy.

Do you have any chocolate moulds that you love to use? And do you also love a bit of Harry Potter magic sprinkled throughout your life?

Fun and Frogs,

Livvy and Summer
