Easter Crafts You Can Do With Children

Crafting may not be for everyone but I absolutely love it, especially doing it with my children and seeing the things they create (disclaimer here, my littlies are only 1 and 2 so we haven’t entered the realm of glue and glitter yet!). My favourite things to do with them currently are making cards as they love that their artwork then gets posted off to family (and a bonus for the individual who gets a sweet little card) and also making and decorating crowns.

For Easter we will be doing both cards and crowns and also some bunny ears because as previously mentioned, we do love bunnies in this house!

Easter Cards:

I recently found an old pile of cards and envelopes in a box from when I used to make my own, so I will use these for the Easter cards we are sending to family and friends from the children, but normally when we make cards, I just fold A4 paper or card in half for them to draw on. Sometimes they design their own cards and sometimes they ask for things to colour in, in which case I’ll draw a basic outline for them. For these Easter cards I drew a simple Easter Egg outline on some, and a bunny outline on the others. I gave them crayons, colouring pencils and stickers and let them do whatever they fancied and encouraged them to try and ‘finish’ one card before moving onto the next. I let them stop when they want to and if they don’t do much, I will get the cards out again next time for them to finish off. Once they have finished colouring them in I add a few more stickers if I feel the cards need it before writing a note for the designated individual inside. It is as simple and enjoyable as it sounds.

Easter Crowns:

This is super simple; all you do is stick two pieces of card together and draw a pointed crown shape on them. Cut the crown shape out and let your littles colour and sticker until they are delighted with the outcome – in this case we actually ended up getting the paint out which was as enjoyable and as messy as you are imagining! Once they’ve finished decorating their masterpiece, wrap it around their head and stick it in place. Sometimes mine will ask for their names or little animals on their crown but they mostly like sticking ‘gems’ on them and colouring them in.

Easter Bunny Ears:

This is similar to the crowns except I only do a thin band of paper to go around their heads and then I draw out one bunny ear on card and cut around that to use as my template. I draw around the template so that all the ears are the same size (because you know your 2-year-old will notice if their bunny ears are wonky!). For this I like to use thicker craft paper if I can as there is more chance that the bunny ears will stand up; paper, in my experience, will flop.

As before, I simply encourage the children to colour, paint and sticker their ears before sticking the band together so that they fit snuggly on their heads.

If you give these a go please do share your results with us; and if you have any little Easter crafts of your own we are always looking for more.

Enjoy your Easter
